Aesthetic Organization

Good day & happy Saturday, everyone! It's been more than a year since my last Saturday post and a lot has transpired since then. While I haven't been up to many home DIY projects, my family has experienced numerous changes, milestones, and adventures. Our son Colin graduated from high school last June and is now attending college in Illinois. Our daughter Kaitlyn has obtained her driver's permit, recently celebrated her 16th birthday, and got her driver's license, which is exciting and nerve-wracking all at the same time. Skott and I are slowly trying to wrap our heads around the idea of being empty nesters in the next few years. We lost our family dog, Hailey right before we took Colin to Illinois, and back in December welcome two new furbabies to the family, Bentley and Zoey. There have been some adjustments, some of which were relatively easy and exciting, while others were more challenging. Skott and I have also been incredibly busy with work, which has unfortunately left little time for me to pursue my passion for taking on projects and sharing them with others.

A quick year in review in pictures

During some of the periods of change, I found myself experiencing stress, anxiety, and often a feeling of being overwhelmed. Unfortunately, my mental state began to impact the physical environment I was in, causing my home to become disorganized. I lost my motivation to maintain order and often felt too exhausted to try and restore balance.

I recently had a long overdue surgery, which put me in bed, on pain meds, and with no activity for two and a half weeks. The good news, I am gradually feeling more energized every day and I'm starting to feel a bit restless. Although I can't participate in any strenuous activities or lift heavy items yet, I'm keeping busy with simple tasks like getting back to my blog and I've even managed to finish a couple of small projects, which have provided me with a sense of relaxation and helped me cope with my anxiety.

Today, I want to share with you the things within my surroundings that bring me tranquility.

One of the most important things for me is to maintain a clean and tidy space. It brings me a great sense of calm to know that everything has its place. Taking a deep breath, I feel the stress melt away as I look around at my organized surroundings.

In addition, aesthetics are a crucial part of creating a peaceful atmosphere. Soft colors, natural textures, and simple decor all work together to create a feeling of balance. Whether it's a lovely flower arrangement, a cozy blanket, or a well-curated bookshelf (something I'm still trying to get right), these visual delights bring a sense of tranquility and happiness to my day.

spice rack

I recently accomplished something that had been on my to-do list since December. I finally organized my spices, which were previously kept in a cluttered basket in the pantry. Now, my spices are neatly arranged in labeled glass bottles on an acrylic spice rack in my kitchen drawer. This simple change has brought a sense of calm to my kitchen and made meal preparation more efficient. By arranging the jars alphabetically and at an angle, I can easily locate what I need with just a quick glance. The organization has also added a touch of elegance to my cooking space. I am amazed at how something as small as organizing can make such a big difference.

shower dispensers

For my second mini-project, I took on the task of organizing Colin's bathroom - the main washroom for guests. It always bothered me to see the chaotic jumble of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles. To remedy this, I invested in some chic shower dispensers and emptied the contents from the unpleasant bottles into tidy and sophisticated dispensers. These bottles already came with clean and legible labels - SCORE! The result is a visual delight reminiscent of a high-end hotel shower.

I encourage you to take a moment today to unwind, relax, and deepen into the present moment. Find what brings you calm within your own surroundings. Whether it's a clean and de-cluttered space or aesthetic touches that speak to your soul, let these elements guide you toward tranquility. Embrace the beauty of the present, and let it nourish your spirit. 🌿💕

Friends, take it from me, in a world that constantly demands our attention, it's essential to find moments of calm and serenity.

XOXO
