If you're anything like me, you've probably found yourself in the midst of a home décor dilemma with your significant other. It's that classic tale of two visions colliding – he's envisioning his ultimate man cave, while I'm dreaming of a tidy, functional space where both cars can comfortably park. He has his "wants/needs," and I have mine, and at times, it can feel like we're speaking entirely different design languages. But fear not! Our garage makeover journey with Samplize our is proving to be a secret ingredient that's turning this clash of styles into a harmonious collaboration. With Samplize's innovative approach to paint sampling, we're finding common ground where both of our unique tastes can shine through.

Step 1: Decluttering Chaos to Clarity

This garage makeover is part of our upcoming One Room Challenge, and let me tell you, it's been quite the adventure so far! Step one was clearing out the clutter – and trust me, we had a lot of it. From donating old furniture to posting items on Facebook Marketplace and even a few trips to the dump (our trash cans are too small!), we've been on a mission to create a blank canvas for our makeover extravaganza.

The Color Conundrum
Step 2: The Color Conundrum

Now that most of the clutter is gone, it's time for the fun part – choosing the perfect paint colors! He wants his space to reflect his style, while I'm aiming for a clean, organized vibe that still has a touch of personality. What I ultimately want is a space that he feels is truly his but with a bit of me sprinkled in because after all, I also need some space for my DIY tools and gadgets.

Step 3: Enter Samplize

That's where Samplize comes in! With their peel-and-stick paint samples, we were able to test out different colors without the mess and hassle of traditional paint swatches. He can pick his favorite hues, and I can add a few of my own into the mix. With Samplize, compromise doesn't mean sacrificing style – it means finding the perfect balance that makes both of us happy.

We were debating over the color(s) and we found our compromise. For those who have been following along on our Instagram, we promised the reveal this week on the blog, so here it is...we will be painting one wall (the bike wall) Benjamin Moore - Black (2132-10) and the remainder of the walls will be more neutral and Benjamin Moore - Pale Oak OC-20. We will most likely tie in some of the other colors we gravitated to like green and blue in other ways (yet to be determined).

Why Choose Samplize?
  • Large samples that show off your wall's texture

  • 100% color accuracy with two coats of real manufacturer paint

  • Samples are delivered overnight for instant gratification - No joke the next day!

  • Curated Color Bundles to take the guesswork out of choosing samples

  • Exterior-specific messaging for versatile use on various surfaces

A special thank you to the folks at Samplize for sending us our samples of choice. Friends, I'm here to tell you if you're embarking on a home makeover journey with your significant other, fear not! Samplize is the new and improved way of testing paint colors!
