It's another #TRENDINGWITHTRISH Thursday! Welcome back, I'm happy you're here. I thought we could talk pillows, some of my favorite Instagram decor feeds this week featured pillows.
Throw pillows are like shoes and handbags, they are the perfect accessory. Just like accessories throw pillows can complete any look or make the same space look completely different.
Starting with a good neutral background is important for a couple of reasons. One, having a neutral background gives you a good base and will balance out any patterns or colors you add to a space. Two, should your design style change, it’s much easier and more cost-effective to switch out pillows than having to buy new furniture.
Adding throw pillows with different textures and patterns is a fun way to alter a look. Consider mixing leather pillows with linen or fur pillows with cable knit pillows. Don’t listen to your grandma, you can even mix patterns with a neutral base.

Another great way to mix things up is to have various sized pillows. Starting with a larger pillow and adding a few more a size or two down will make a great impact.
Check out some of Stephanie's of mixedmodernliving throw pillow combos. I just love her use of texture and variety of sizes. You'll notice her background is neutral which makes it the perfect backdrop for these lovely pillows.
I'm going to let you in on a little secret...just like shoes and handbags, I’m a self-admitted pillow addict. My favorite aisle at #Homegoods is the pillow aisle {it’s like the shoe aisle at #NordstromRack} both my bank account and my husband will tell you the same. I have literally walked out of #Homegoods with carts {YES multiple} of nothing but pillows, no doubt I could have used an intervention.

With storage space running low and my pocketbook hurting a little bit, I was determined to find a better way and still accomplish my design goals with a smaller budget. Here’s what I discovered…wait for it… PILLOW COVERS…genius right?!?
If you like to switch out your pillows frequently or add different pillows during a holiday start looking at pillow covers. They come in a variety of colors, patterns, textures, and sizes and they are almost half the price of a pillow. All you have to do is slip them on over the existing pillow and VOILA brand new throw pillows to freshen up your space. Pillow covers also take up much easier to store.
Now if I could sew, I'd probably make my own but since I can't {yet} my "go-to" is typically Amazon, I can normally find what I am looking for and get it next day with #amazonprime.
